🤝 Do you have a reception?
We don’t have a traditional reception desk — but we’re definitely not service-less!
To keep your stay as relaxed and private as possible, we offer reception-less check-in. This means no waiting in line, no paperwork — just arrive, settle in, and enjoy Denmark at your own pace. Your arrival instructions are sent before arrival with everything you need for your stay.
If you need us:
There’s a guest phone number in your unit that you can call or message during office hours, and an after-hours guest number.
You can also email us anytime at bookings@karrimia.com.au, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible during business hours.
Our goal is simple: to make sure you’re comfortable, cared for, and stress-free during your stay. 🌿
🐾 Can I bring my dog?
Yes — but only in some of our units. We love welcoming well-behaved pooches, but because not all our chalets are pet-friendly, it’s essential you let us know when booking.
We have a very strict pet policy that allows us to maintain our high level of cleanliness for all guests, an additional pet fee is applicable.
Pet policy in a nutshell:
Only one dog per unit (sorry, no cats, goats, or pet wombats).
$40 charge per stay, plus a $250 refundable bond (released after checkout if no extra cleaning/damage).
Not permitted in: Chalet #1, Chalet #7, Chalet #10, or refurbished chalets.
- Strictly NO pets allowed at The Shadforth
Dogs must be fully vaccinated, registered, non-disruptive and not on the restricted breeds list.

🌸 I have allergies — do you have pet-free rooms?
Yes, absolutely. While some of our units are pet-friendly, we also have designated pet-free rooms to ensure guests with allergies can enjoy a safe and comfortable stay.
We take great pride in our 5-star cleanliness standards, and our team goes above and beyond to ensure every unit is fresh, spotless, and allergen-reduced before your arrival. You can read what other guests have said about our cleanliness in our reviews here. ✨
If you have specific concerns, let us know at the time of booking and we’ll make sure to allocate you a pet-free chalet or studio (The Shadforth is strictly pet free also).
⏰ What time is check-in and check-out?
- Check-in: from 3pm
Check-out: by 10am
Need a little extra time? Early check-ins and late check-outs are sometimes possible — just ask and we’ll do our best!
❓ How does payment work?
We require a 25% deposit at the time of booking to secure your stay (this applies whether you book directly or via a third-party site like Booking.com). You’ll see this clearly in your confirmation email under “Deposit.”
The remaining balance is automatically processed from the card on file 48 hours before arrival. We’ll also send you a friendly pre-arrival reminder email a few days before check-in.
(Tip: Booking direct with us means clearer communication and a little extra love!)

💳 Why is there a credit card surcharge?
Our booking system processes debit and credit cards the same way, so both incur a small merchant processing fee of 1.75%. This fee is set by the payment processor and calculated as a percentage of the total stay amount.
We completely understand this can add up, so if you’d prefer to avoid the surcharge we’re happy to provide our bank details for a direct deposit. In that case, we’ll adjust your booking so only your deposit is charged to your card and the balance can be paid via transfer.
Please note:
We are a cashless property (all payments are completed before arrival).
We accept Visa and Mastercard.
Bank details can be provided on request.

🔥 Do the chalets and studios have heating?
Yes — we want you to be warm and cosy no matter the season!
Spa Studios: Gas fireplace plus reverse cycle air-conditioning.
All Chalets: Reverse cycle air-conditioning, electric blankets, and extra throw blankets for snuggling.
The Shadforth: A beautiful real wood fireplace (with firewood provided) plus reverse cycle air-conditioning.
So whether you love curling up by the fire with a glass of local red, or just want to take the chill off with the push of a button, you’ll be comfy here year-round. 🌿
☕ Do you have coffee machines in the rooms?
Yes! Every chalet and studio comes with a pod coffee machine to make mornings a little easier (and tastier). Most chalets feature Nespresso Citiz machines, while some of our studios have pod machines suited for two adults.
We’ll get you started with enough pods, tea, milk and sugar for your first morning. After that, you can:
Purchase extra pods from us,
Restock at the local IGA in Denmark,
Or support a local roaster like Stash Coffee (just minutes away at Singlefile Winery).
We highly recommend checking out Denmark’s amazing cafés during your stay too — Kindfolk is one of our favourites. 🌿
👕 Do the chalets and studios have washing machines?
- Some chalets (like the Ocean Spa Chalets and Ocean View Chalets) come with their own washing machine and clothesline.
For everyone else, there’s a shared guest laundry next to our games shed, available for use during your stay.
So whether you’re staying for a weekend or a week, you’ll always have a way to keep things fresh.
🍳 Can I cook in my chalet or studio?
Yes, absolutely!
Chalets have full-size kitchens with an oven, microwave, full-size fridge, pots, pans, crockery and glassware. Perfect if you want to cook up a feast with local produce.
Studios have kitchenettes, designed for simpler meals. They include a small fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, and enough cutlery and crockery for two.
Every chalet and studio also has its own private BBQ on the balcony — so you can sizzle and soak up the views at the same time. 🌅
The Shadforth features a stunning open plan entertainers kitchen, with large island bench and beautiful vistas!
🌟 What’s included when I arrive?
We provide:
Fresh linen, towels, blankets and pillows,
Starter supply of tea, coffee pods, milk and sugar,
Guest amenities (soap, shampoo, conditioner),
BBQ facilities with utensils (don’t forget to clean them after use 😊).
We want you to feel right at home, so you’ll have everything you need for a comfortable first night — and then you can top up with local goodies as you go.
❌ What is your cancellation policy?
We know travel plans can change — here’s how cancellations and changes work at Karri Mia:
More than 30 days before arrival
Deposit refunded (minus a $50 admin fee), or
Deposit held as a credit for a future stay (valid for 12 months, subject to availability and price changes).
Within 30 days of arrival
Deposit is non-refundable, but may be held as credit (minus $50 cancellation fee).
Within 48 hours of arrival (or within 14 days for School Holidays or December/January peak season)
Full payment is required and non-refundable. No credit can be offered once the final balance is paid.
Variations (e.g. reducing your nights) are treated as a cancellation of those nights.
👉 Please note: Bookings made through third-party sites (like Booking.com) may have additional fees and are also subject to their own cancellation rules — another good reason to book direct with us for the most flexible options.
👉 Specials and Promotions (including the STAY5PAY4) are non-refundable.

👨👩👧 Are children welcome? Do you have cots?
Studios: These are adults-only (perfect for couples looking for a quiet retreat).
Chalets: Family-friendly and a great choice if you’re travelling with kids.
The Shadforth: Recommended for guests 12 years and older.
For little ones, we’re happy to provide a complimentary porta cot (4Baby brand – see here).
Please note:
Cot linen is not provided — guests should bring their own baby blankets.
Cots are limited in number, so please request one at the time of booking to avoid disappointment.
🏡 Are all your chalets the same?
Not exactly! While our chalets are similar in style and comfort, each one has its own unique features, views, and layout. Some have spas, some are pet-friendly, and others are completely pet-free — so there’s a little something for everyone.

A quick note: our chalets and studios are individually owned, which means each one is a little special. If you’re travelling in a group, we kindly ask that guests keep each unit’s crockery, cutlery and furniture in their own chalet. This helps us keep things in great condition for everyone.
🌿 What’s the difference between your studios?
All of our Spa Studios are beautiful open-plan A-frame retreats, designed just for adults. Each one features:
King-size bed and spa on a mezzanine level
Double-head shower in ensuite
Gas fireplace + reverse cycle air-conditioning
Private balcony with outdoor seating
Nespresso Citiz coffee machine
Kitchenette with fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, and tea/coffee facilities
The main difference comes down to location and views:
Garden Spa Studio → Nestled among garden hedges, with peaceful inlet glimpses. A little more private and tucked away.
Panoramic Spa + Ocean Spa Studios → Elevated position with sweeping panoramic views across Wilson Inlet and the Southern Ocean.
All offer comfort and luxury — it just depends if you’d prefer being cosy in the gardens or soaking up those big Denmark views. 🌊🌳
🏡 I've booked a Chalet, is it One or Two Bedrooms?
Bookings made for two adults are based on use of one bedroom (the second bedroom can be open on request, a second room fee of $45 applies), bookings made for more than 2 adults are priced for two bedrooms.
This information can sometimes be missed on your confirmation email / booking page, so please reach out to our team if you require two bedrooms for your stay.
🐾 Where is the closest dog beach and where can I take my dog in Denmark?
A: The nearest off-lead beach is Prawn Rock Channel/Dog Island, just near Ocean Beach (dogs are not allowed on the main surf beach). Lights Beach is another popular dog-friendly option.
Denmark also has a fully fenced dog park at Laing Park, plus plenty of walking trails where dogs are welcome on lead.

❓ Return Guests?

🌐 Do you provide free Wi-Fi?
Yes! We offer complimentary Wi-Fi for all guests.
Please note that due to our tranquil mountain-side location, the connection can be a little temperamental. Many guests see it as part of the charm — a gentle reminder to disconnect and enjoy the view.
If you need a strong, consistent connection for streaming, downloading or remote work, we recommend bringing your own portable Wi-Fi device. (Full mobile phone coverage across the property)
Every chalet and studio is also equipped with a Smart TV and DVD player, so you’ll have plenty of entertainment options even if the internet decides to take a nap. 🌿
🧽 Do your chalets or studios have dishwashers?
No, our chalets and studios don’t have dishwashers — we like to think of it as part of the Karri Mia slow-down experience. Some of the best holiday conversations happen over a sink of warm bubbles!
You’ll find a dish rack, eco-friendly dish soap, and fresh dishcloths provided in every unit.
If you’re staying at The Shadforth, you’ll find a fully equipped entertainers’ kitchen complete with a dishwasher, wine fridge, and air fryer for a touch of extra luxury. 🍷
